ACV Scalp and Hair Spray

Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. Scalp is skin. Skin health starts with gut health. Skin health is impacted by topical products. This is a topical treatment I have found to be a great benefit.

Skin has a pH level that is slightly acidic. Around 5.5 on the pH scale for most people. This acid mantle of the skin is protective. It houses the skinโ€™s microbiome. It works to fend off intruders like fungus, irritants, toxicants, pollutants, and damaging bacteria.

Shampoo is typically around the pH level 8. Water is also more alkaline than our skin. So when we wet and shampoo our hair, we alter the pH; which can disrupt the balance and health of our skin. This will corrects itself over time. But the faster we help bring the pH back in balance, the healthier our scalp and hair can be. Some shampoos claim to be pH balanced. This is typically done with chemicals. I prefer to avoid that.

I use this simple spray of apple cider vinegar and water. Itโ€™s slightly acidic and help to bring my scalp back into balance. Apple cider vinegar can also benefit the scalp and hair in other ways.

An Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse Can:

๐ŸŽ balance the pH of the scalp
๐ŸŽ seal the cuticle of the hair
๐ŸŽ make the hair smoother and shinier
๐ŸŽ help the hair be stronger and prevent breakage
๐ŸŽ combat fungus and bacteria
๐ŸŽ treat dandruff
๐ŸŽ soothe an irritated or itchy scalp
๐ŸŽ tame frizz
๐ŸŽ promote hair growth

Add 1/2-1 Tbsp of ACV per cup of water. I likeย @bragglivefoodproducts. I have a 2 cup spray bottle so I add a couple Tbsp of ACV then top with filtered water. After shampooing and conditioning, I spray this liberally on my scalp and roots, letting it run down the hair. I do not rinse it out. Vinegar absorbs odors and then dissipates. I do not smell like vinegar, and my hair, scalp, and nose are happy. I use this on my little ones and my husband uses it too. I refill ours every couple of weeks or so.
