Prepared Not Panicked

Remember last week when I suspected a urinary tract infection was creeping in? I didn’t have the tools I needed to combat it early. By 2am I was in a panic as the symptoms were increasing and intensifying, rapidly. I ended up fast ordering things & ultimately had to settle for some items that wouldn’t be my top choice & having to wait days for others. This impeded my healing, no doubt. I have learned over the years to keep a strong supply of powerful and effective tools. I missed the mark here. And learned a valuable lesson. Again.

Have you noticed how impossible it is to find some common supplies right now? People are in a panic. All around us. People are reacting out of fear. Racing to grab items before someone else takes it all or they become unavailable. Hysteria and panic serve no one. I’m not waiting for any illness, virus, infection, or otherwise to invade here to have some tools.

Being prepared allows me to better respond rather than react.

Having a bottle of pineapple juice in the pantry at all times helps me tackle a sudden cough here with #alltcoughelixir & without racing to CVS in the middle of the night and grabbing cough syrup full of chemicals and dyes. Making extra beans and freezing some for later use enables me to have properly prepared and healthier, more affordable food on hand in times of need and limits how often I call for takeout or crack open a BPA lined can.

Likewise, keeping staples on hand like organic vinegar, peroxide, baking soda, toilet paper, dried goods, my @berkey_filters , a well stocked pantry, & a cabinet full of quality supplements and remedies is not about being fearful. It is experience. Ive been caught empty handed enough to have learned that equipping our home with tools and my mind with information and truth is a powerful weapon against panic and fear.

Above all else, I think it’s important to have a prepared mind and heart. I have access to true peace no matter my circumstances. I am not trying to add to my days but to steward them well. I need not fear because “Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.”-Psalm 139:16
